Jim Goes To The Gym

A Poem

Too damn early
It’s four am
And he is heading out
To the gym

Barely awake
Driving down empty streets
Moving his ass
Is a Herculean feat

Workout initiated
His blood starts rushing
As he strains to lift
With his face flushing

Pushing through the pain
Just a little bit more
Pumping that iron
Later he’ll be sore

Muscles stretching
To form small tears
Growth slowly happening
Through micro repair

Time passes by
He keeps getting stronger
Being consistent pays off
Until Jim is weak no longer

Staving off old age
And fighting the fat
Jim has become
The mighty gym rat

I get up at 4 a.m. for four days every week to go to the gym. I spend approximately thirty minutes there. Due to the gym being mostly vacant, I am able to get a great workout.
