A Companion during Catastrophe

While ‘listening to music’ is widely used to accompany one’s recreation, ‘performing or playing an instrument’ still has a long way to go. This is a poem to celebrate the effect of practicing an instrument on lifting one’s mood and hence to encourage to learn an instrument.

Carrying the journal in my hand and tossing it on my table

Work and distress did invade my mind

Exhausted my heart was and barely stable

I rushed to my piano with my thoughts musically inclined.

With my fingers touching the keys and my toes- the ground

My memories did strike me hard

In melodies that my mind drowned

The anguish diminished and got charred.

The piece did progress and my fingers did run

And my focus not on the fingers but on my soul

My temper and rage have spun

With the music showing love and console.

The piece did end and so did the distress

With my heart dancing just like the melody

I jumped to my journal work aiming at its success

My piano did stand by me during this jeopardy.
