Tired of Fighting.

It never really ends does it? A constant struggle to educate people. To be right. To be on point. When does it stop? I know, I’ll write about it. Again. I’ll call someone out publicly. Again. I’ll…

Brainwashed By Your Phone

Every morning when you wake up the first thing that you go for is your phone. Whether you have emails to answer or want to look at your friends Snapchat stories your cellphone controls you from the minute you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. For many people, they use their cellphones for productivity, this is to help them connect with people for their occupation, or to help organize their daily lives, but for others like me that is not that case.

Technology is an amazing invention that has really helped our world jump into a more creative place, but with that comes overuse and misuse of this technology. Nowadays people have become so entranced into their phones that they are becoming addicted to it and are now relying on it for comfort and safety. Ask anyone, we have all had the moment we left our phone at home or lost it somewhere and once this happens there is always immediate panic.

After researching on my own cell phone, the amount of time I spend on pointless social media apps, or addictive games, I can say that I have fallen to be a victim of cellphone over use as well. When looking at my screen time on my phone the results were not what I had expected to see. On a weekly average my screen time came up to be 8 hours and 54 minutes a day. For the total amount of screen time, for the week it came out to be 44 hours and 38 minutes. This was a shock to me because I had never realized how many hours a day I was just sitting on my phone and not being involved with the world.

The first most used app that was recorded for the week was TikTok at a total of 7 hours and 32 minutes. TikTok is a social media app where people from all around the world can post videos and share it to others with the same common interests. Unlike a very similar app called Vine; released in 2012 and removed from the app store in 2016, TikTok has accumulated a total of 689 million people. TikTok is growing rapidly and will continue to grow as years go on.

The second most used app that was recorded for the week was a game call Royal Match with a. total of 3 hours and 2 minutes. Royal Match is a matching game that is similar to a very popular one called Candy Crush. I was very shocked to see this data because I have never been someone who would play games on their phone but looking at the data, I realized that I have now become addicted to playing the game every day.

The third most used app that was recorded for the week was the messages app with a total of 48 minutes a day. This app is an extremely important app to many people on their phones, this is because texting has become something that is a quick and easy way to communicate with others. Text messaging is the one app that in this line up should be called necessary, yet out of my top three it came in last.

After reviewing my screen time over one full week, I have realized that my cellphone is something that controls my everyday life. It keeps me from carrying out a social life with my friends and family and restricts me from going out into the real world. So if you are in the same boat as me, then make the change, go outside, hangout with your friends, and go experience the real world.
