My Consumer Behavior experience during the Pandemic

One Ball Day

You never know what kind of day it will be until you step out onto the course, and even then the day can change from hole to hole. You always hope for a good day, but golfers of all levels know that some days the golf gods just aren’t on your side. Yesterday the golf gods were smiling down on me. I didn’t have a perfect game, in fact I 3 putted more than one hole, but I started the round with a par, drove solid drives on all but 2 holes, and made comebacks after any of my not so glorious shots. The pinnacle of the day however, on a course with plenty of water and grass patches known for eating balls, I used the same ball for the entire round. 18 holes, 1 ball! I don’t think I have ever played a full 18 with only one ball. There were a few near misses for my little friend; overshooting the green with my 5 wood and a drive on a 120 yard hole that almost ended in a swim, but the same Bridgestone 3 that I made par with on hole 1 made it all the way to hole 18, finishing the day at 104.

Yesterday was a good example of what golf should be (at least for the level I am playing at). I had some great shots, I had some not so great ones to learn from, and I had plenty where I could see the practice starting to pay off. I still need work on judging my power for chipping, but most of my chips were good looking shots, only one where I decelerated on the way down and bladed the ball across the green. I also didn’t let the bad shots get into my head. This is a major win for me. There was one hole that just didn’t go my way, and the harder I tried to fix it the more I sent my ball in a direction that wasn’t the pin. 3 questionable hits later, I had solid putting and ended with a triple. Disappointing, but as we moved onto the next hole I didn’t dwell on the shots or stress myself out as I approached the next tee box. I can honestly say that I had fun for the entire 18 holes. At the end of the day, golf is a game, I don’t have sponsorships or millions of dollars riding on my putting, and a shot into the trees has no lasting impact on my life. What does have a lasting impact are the memories I am building and the sense of accomplishment at seeing myself get better at something I am working hard for.

Yesterday was a good day, and I can’t wait to get out and have another one.

Until next time,

Fore!

Katherine
