Ripples

Poem.

Ripples on the surface
Of my mind splash and resurface
Once again reminded
Cut loose then badly blinded.

Is it just a crazy race?
Or one more memory of
Another time another space
Interfaced or single-minded.

Zephyrs of a wispy wind
Memories left chagrined
Something someone did or said
Or sewn uptight and pinned.

Is it just a fleeting thought?
Looked for but never sought
Or some more of the daily bread
Something vital left unsaid.

Contradictions radiate
Like ripples on the lake
And softly lap the thirsty shore
Then from our minds, we shake.

Erasing memories of a time
That’s better to forget
A distant bell’s ghostly chime
A stranger never met.

Ripples softly circle round
A treasure never found
Deep waters swallow up
A place where we were bound.

Salient ideas washed up
And stranded on the shore
Replaced by something new that
Wasn’t there before.
